About us

History

Nippon Silica Glass Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Tosoh Quartz Corporation, was established in 1936 as the first silica glass manufacturer in Japan. We have been engaged in processing silica glass ever since.

1936 Nippon Silica Glass Co., Ltd. established
1937 Operation of Yamagata Factory begins
1969 Manufacture of optical cells begins
1970 Operation of Tachiyagawa Factory (Present Yamagata Headquarters / Yamagata Factory) begins
1971 Successfully developed synthetic silica glass
1982 Kita-nihon Sekiei Co., Ltd. (currently Sakata Factory) established
1983 Cotec Co., Ltd. (currently Sakata Factory) established
1994 ISO9002 certified
1996 Yamagata Factory relocated and consolidated with Tachiyagawa Factory
2000 Company becomes wholly-owned subsidiary of Tosoh Corporation
2001 Corporate name changed to TOSOH Quartz Corporation
Operation of Yonezawa Factory begins
Tainan Quartz Co., Ltd. Established
Manufacture of LCD Mask Substrate begins
ISO14001 certified
2002 ISO9001 (2000 Version) certified
2005 ISO14001 (2004 Version) certified
2009 OHSAS18001 (2007 Version) certified
2013 Received “Kurumin” certification from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in recognition of our commitment to providing child-care services for our employees.
2017 Korea business office established
2018 Name of our Taiwan subsidiary company changed from Tainan Quartz Co., Ltd. to Tosoh Quartz Co., Ltd.
Yamagata Factory opens new manufacturing facility

Tosoh Quartz Co., Ltd. Start of operation of new building of Tainan factory
